K.O Strategy
The Bison is a simple knockout tame. If you're only looking for just one Bison in a group, kill all the others in the herd first to make things easier. Once isolated, you can use a
Large Bear Trap to immobilize the Bison you want, then trap it within
Metal Billboard. They have average torpor compared to health, which makes most taming weapons effective without risk of killing them.
While the taming procedure is straightforward for a Bison, it's important to know that they're dangerous to even well-geared survivors if not trapped, and their general aggression may make it problematic to trap them. They're capable of dismounting the player and throwing them high into the air, which can result in death by fall damage, and they're fast enough to not be kited on foot with ease. A fast mount with good stamina that weapons can be used from, such as a
Raptor,
Sabertooth, or even a
Gallimimus, can effectively kite a Bison. However, it's advised to bring a couple of
Parachutes along just in case. You may even be able to use this to your advantage in a pinch by landing on an elevated surface. From there, you can continue to tranquilize the target.
Unlike most creatures, Bison will not run when high on torpor; they may run away if they can't pathfind to you or fail to attack after chasing for so long, but they'll keep running back to you until they're unconscious. With that in mind, you may even be able to conceal yourself in a 3x3 pen surrounded by doorways and shoot the Bison while out of their reach.

Abilities
what it does and how you trigger it
- Horn Attack Primary attack
The Bison swings its large horns at the target for 30 damage.
5 stamina · 0.89s cooldown - Head Attack Secondary attack
The Bison attacks the target for 40 damage. This attack scales with Bison's charge speed by up to ???%. This attack changes its effect depending on its Head Position: * Head Up: The Bison performs a powerful head-butt at the target that Stuns for 5 seconds. * Head Down: The Bison launches the target in the air backwards with its horns.
5 stamina · 2.25s cooldown - Switch Head Position Special 1
Bison swith its head position between Head Up and Head Down. Both stances change the Head Attack behavior, also Head Down reduces the damage taken by ???.
- Pack Boost
The Bison receives the Pack Boost whenever it is near another allied Bison. A "pack" of two Bisons will receive a +1 bonus, which will go up to +6 in a herd of seven or more Bisons. They receive +9% extra Melee Damage and +5% damage resistance per extra herd member up to six members. The damage output, however, doesn't increase with just one extra member (+1). It needs to be at least three Bisons total for the damage increase to apply.
Passive
The female Bisons produce
Bison Milk whenever a non-adult ally Bison is nearby; they can produce 1 milk every hour (Or 15 minutes on Single Player).
