Every number in this card is at official 1× rates, with the fastest food. Taming speed and food consumption multipliers change all of it, and most servers are not on official — the calculator at the top of this tab takes your rates, a Sanguine Elixir, and every other food this creature will eat.
Effectiveness is what decides the bonus levels: every unit of food eaten costs a slice of it, so the food that needs the fewest units finishes at the highest level. That is why kibble is worth the trouble — not that it is much faster, but that it is fewer feedings.
Torpor drains at 0.3 per second while it is unconscious, so on a long tame you will need Narcotic to keep it down. The calculator works out how much.

Being an Omnivore, The Maeguana will enjoy any type of food you will throw at it, with a preference for the usual Prime Meat, Mutton or
Basic Kibble.
Taming Method
Due to its cowardly intention of immediately jumping up into the air with extremely fast gliding and reaction, trapping a Maeguana to tame it is preferred early. You may only get one or two shots before it's in the air and gliding away. That being said, their torpor is very low, capping out around 1k for a level 150. Anything that can do 1k torpor in a single hit (230+%
Longneck Rifle with shocking tranq darts, 390+%
Electric Prod) should put any Maeguana out immediately, potentially excluding those with the Numb trait.
If you fail to knock it out and it starts gliding away, you can actually go the opposite direction to de-render the Maeguana faster. This will make it lose its panicked status. When rendered again, simply continue knocking it out; their torpor drain isn't high so you should still retain progress, and their high health in comparison to torpor makes accidentally killing them almost impossible.
Trap Box Method
One of the most popular way to trap mobile creatures is the classic method of building a trap. In the case for the Maeguana, one of the more popular early-game methods is to create a small box of billboards, leaving one side open for the Maeguana to enter. Next to the billboards place 3 wooden pillars, and using those pillars, create a thatch ceiling that covers the entirety of the billboard box.
Once the trap is set, either obtain
Rare Flower if you intend to lure the Maeguana aggressively into the trap, or use
Giant Bee Honey to lure it if it happens to be within the trail of the trap. For either of the trap, its recommended to clear out the area beforehand.
Under either method, quickly go behind the Maeguana once its in the trap, and fill in the final board to successfully trap it. If the ceiling trap is laid out correctly, it will not be able to fly out.
