A wild Maewing starts at 700 health and 100% melee damage. Its drag weight is 300, which decides what can carry it. The saddle engram unlocks at level 19. Killing one gives 2 base XP.

Taming food: Basic Kibble, Raw Mutton, Raw Prime Meat, Cooked Lamb Chop, Cooked Prime Meat, Raw Prime Fish Meat, Raw Meat, Archelon Algae. Torpor drains at 0.3 per second once it is unconscious.

Breeding: lays an egg, incubating in 1h 25m, and the baby matures in 1d 22h 17m with 5 imprints available. The egg needs 22–26°C to incubate . Mating cooldown runs 1d 12h to 4d.

Immobilised by: Chain Bola, Large Bear Trap.

Best at gathering: Berries, Fiber.

Drops on death: Raw Meat, Hide, Keratin, Pelt.

Chain BolaFired from a Ballista or Harpoon Launcher. Grounds flyers and pins them where they land.
Large Bear TrapSame idea as the Bear Trap, sized for the big stuff. Bait it into walking over one.

That's the full list — nothing else immobilizes a Maewing, per the game's own immobilizer table (drag weight 300).

Every number in this card is at official 1× rates, with the fastest food. Taming speed and food consumption multipliers change all of it, and most servers are not on official — the calculator at the top of this tab takes your rates, a Sanguine Elixir, and every other food this creature will eat.

Effectiveness is what decides the bonus levels: every unit of food eaten costs a slice of it, so the food that needs the fewest units finishes at the highest level. That is why kibble is worth the trouble — not that it is much faster, but that it is fewer feedings.

Torpor drains at 0.3 per second while it is unconscious, so on a long tame you will need Narcotic to keep it down. The calculator works out how much.

  • Nursing

The Maewing has a nursing option on its wheel menu, this option allows the Maewing to feed the nearby babies. The range of this ability scales with its Nursing Effectiveness stat that replaces the Movement Speed on the Maewing. There is also the show nursing range option to visually see the nursing range. As mentioned, the nursing effectiveness stat completely replaces Movement Speed, and does not affect the speed of the Maewing. Additionally, each percentage in the Nursing Effectiveness stat makes the food satisfy babies' Food stat more by 1%.

  • Egg Production

The Maewing can lay eggs with random quality to make any kind of Kibble.
