- To tame a Pyromane, first give it the Doused debuff by getting it into water or waiting for rain. Once doused, damage it until you can mount it. While riding, kill nearby creatures and use the Pyromane's absorb-flame ability to fill the taming meter. Repeat until the meter reaches 100%, then perform the final tame action.

traps, methods & egg runsTo gain the ability to interact with the Pyromane, including taming it, you will first need to purchase the mod.
Then you must kite it to a body of water or use a Extinguisher
Grenade so that it acquires the Status Effects debuff. Continue to attack it to bring its health down to below 50%. Once sufficiently weakened, you should be able to interact with it to mount it. Once mounted, attack nearby creatures to apply a burning effect, then use Flame Absorb ( + ) to absorb the flame to progress the taming meter.
On Scorched Earth, Pyromane spawns in the wyvern trench, around which are no bodies of water. However, a wyvern is capable of carrying a Pyromane, so you'll need to pick up your target and drop it in the nearest body of water (for example, around the Red or Blue Obelisk) to tame it.
Mating
Female Pyromane can only mate while in large form. Turning them into a small form with mating enabled will display a message above their nameplate stating "Cannot Mate in Small Form". However, male Pyromane can mate while in small form. Pyromane gestate their fetuses and are prevented from transforming while gestating. During the gestation cooldown, female Pyromane can be transformed into their small form; while the gestation cooldown timer will not appear on the small form nameplate, it will continue to count down while transformed.

Abilities
what it does and how you trigger it
- Bite Primary attack
The Pyromane bites the target in front of it for 35 damage and causes a stacking effect called Pyromane Enflamed. Stacks up to 10 times.
5 stamina · 0.67s cooldown - Flame Leap Secondary attack
The Pyromane leaps through the air, damaging anything it hits.
50 stamina · 12s cooldown - Flame Trail Hold Right click
The Pyromane leaves a trail of fire in its wake by consuming absorbed flames. Does not work in the rain. Lasts until button is released or stored fire is depleted.
- Flame Absorb Ctrl + Right click
The Pyromane absorbs fire from nearby sources. Can be used every 30s by both a rider and the AI once tamed and every 5s during the taming progress.
- Flame Boost Ctrl + Left click
The Pyromane boosts its damage by 50% at the expense of its absorbed flames. Lasts until cancelled or stored fire is depleted.
- Swap to Shoulder Pet Ctrl + C
The Pyromane changes form to its shoulder pet appearance.
- Cooking Station
The Pyromane's inventory cooks any kind of Meat at a similar rate to a
Campfire. It will also automatically generate
Cooked Meat Jerky and
Prime Meat Jerky from the cooked meat in its inventory without the need for oil at a similar rate to a
Preserving Bin. - Fuel for Structures
The Pyromane can provide fuel to objects that burn wood like Campfires,
Standing Torches and
Refining Forges. The radius can be configured using the radial menu of the Pyromane, with settings to be Off, Low (about 4 foundations), Medium (about 10 foundations), or High (about 18 foundations). - Convert to Shoulder Pet
The Pyromane has the ability to transform from a kitten-sized shoulder pet to a full lion-sized mount. Using the radial menu while dismounted will cause the Pyromane to transform and remain on the ground. However, if transformed while mounted, the Pyromane will go immediately to your shoulders (assuming you have no other tame you're carrying). If you order it to transform while carrying it, you will be mounted on the Pyromane's back once the transformation is complete. When attacked in kitten form, the Pyromane will immediately transform into lion form to fight back. On your shoulders, the Pyromane will give you a Cuddled by Fire buff, which significantly raises your cold and heat resist values. While mounted on the Pyromane, you'll receive the buff Wreathed in Fire, imparting a significant buff to cold resist and a massive buff to heat resistance, high enough to enter lava without taking damage. When the tamed Pyromane enters water, it will receive the Doused debuff. When doused, the Pyromane is unable to perform Flame Leap; melee attacks do not cause targets to catch fire; the buffs for Wreathed in Fire and Cuddled by Fire are no longer active; and the Pyromane loses the "mane" of fire that is its namesake. The debuff only lasts for 5 seconds once out of water. Notably, the passive cooking and area of effect powering up wood-based objects are unaffected by the debuff.
- Sleep
The Pyromane has a Sleep option on the radial menu where the Pyro sleeps on its position and gains Chalico Sit Buff, reducing its Food consumption by 50% and recovering its Health by 2% per second up to 50%. When pooping, the Pyromane drops Flaming
Medium Animal Feces instead of normal
Feces. Both forms of feces can be mixed in a
Compost Bin to create
Fertilizer, but it doesn't work for Dung Beetles. If the Flaming Feces spoils it will convert into 1
Charcoal.
Passive
The Pyromane has a natural armor on the saddle slot inside its inventory that scales with the base creature's level up to 60 maximum armor.
