The Cave

guide

The Ruins of Nosti (more commonly referred to as The Church Cave) is a Cave underneath a ruined building on the Scorched Earth map. The ruins above are a forgotten city full of domed buildings and pillars in the south east of the map in the dunes. The ruins themselves are notable as being featured as the setting for many of this ARK's Explorer Notes, which among other things chronical the city's rise and fall. The entrance is inside what many players call the church, one of the larger ruined buildings.

The cave that is the Ruins of Nosti begins with a descent down beneath the surface. This location, dubbed as the entrance, consists of the Church all the way down to where the path splits into two, where it then becomes the descent.

The Artifact of the Destroyer and a Scorched Sword Skin can be found in the Artifact crate.

This is easily the most dangerous cave in Scorched Earth between the jumps over a bottomless void (500,000 damage to anything that falls in) and the combination of some of the most dangerous creatures—including large swarms of Onycs and Mantis. Survivors should be well-prepared before tackling this cave. Mega Rabies will come from the Onyc, so make some Lesser Antidote beforehand. However there is not quite the variety of creatures here than in other caves, but don't take this as a sign to underestimate the cave itself.

What You'll Be Dealing With

  • Mantis — Uses whatever weapon it holds, so its damage depends on what it picked up, and it is fast.
  • Rubble Golem — A Rock Elemental fragment. Untameable, and it ignores small-arms fire.
  • Arthropluera — Its ranged acid attack damages armour directly — primitive Flak breaks in one or two hits — and armour damage cannot be repaired if the piece is destroyed.
Wear Hide rather than Flak and carry Fiber and Hide to repair. Kill it at range; it out-damages armour faster than you out-heal it.
  • Araneo — Webs you in place from range, which stops you kiting and stops a mount fleeing. Its bite applies torpor.
Kill it at range before it closes. Bug Repellant makes it ignore you entirely.
  • Titanoboa — Applies heavy torpor per bite and is quiet enough to reach you before you see it.
Stimberries or Stimulant on your hotbar. Two bites will drop an unprepared survivor.
  • Megalania — Climbs walls and ceilings, so it attacks from above where a mount cannot follow, and its bite applies a stacking torpor.
Check the ceiling. Stimulant for the torpor stacks.
  • Onyc — Attacks in numbers, drains stamina, and is small enough that most mounts cannot hit it.
A shotgun, or a pike on foot. They path erratically, so aimed single shots waste ammunition.
Not a threat: Achatina
Each line above is a fact about the creature and its own in-game behaviour — attributed to this cave only because the cave contains it. It is not a walkthrough, and it does not claim to describe the layout or the route.
