How You Get One

method, in order
Passive Passive, fed Chitin and Plant Species Z Seeds — on its terms: move on green, freeze on red.

Step by step

  1. Approach it while it is landed, food in hand.
  2. Feed it when it glows green; stand perfectly still when it glows red.
  3. Repeat until tamed.

Torpor

  • This creature is torpor-immune to conventional tranquilisers. Darts, arrows and Narcotics will not drop it, so the torpor figures elsewhere on this page describe its stat, not a route to taming it.

Holding it still

Built trapNo bola-type item holds this one — build a trap instead: stone or metal dinosaur gateways in a box or semicircle, lure it in, close the last gate behind it.

Nothing throwable immobilizes a Cosmo.

Every number in this card is at official 1× rates, with the fastest food. Taming speed and food consumption multipliers change all of it, and most servers are not on official — the calculator at the top of this tab takes your rates, a Sanguine Elixir, and every other food this creature will eat.

Effectiveness is what decides the bonus levels: every unit of food eaten costs a slice of it, so the food that needs the fewest units finishes at the highest level. That is why kibble is worth the trouble — not that it is much faster, but that it is fewer feedings.

Tame Guide

traps, methods & egg runs

Cosmo is tamed non-violently using Chitin and Plant Species Z Seed. The Seed will give significantly more taming progress, but it is not necessary, as you can use Chitin alone to tame them.

The taming process is a minigame where the player wants to play the old children's game, red light/green light. With Chitin in your inventory, go close to a nearby landed Cosmo. If it's growing green, you can approach and feed it your taming food. However, if it's glowing red, you need to stand still and wait. If you advance on it while it's red, it will make a disappointed sound, shoot you with a few of its charged webs, and run away. When you feed it, and it is not tamed yet, it will create some distance to play the minigame again. Repeat the process, and eventually it will be tamed.

    5 stamina
  • Switch Modes R

  • Web Line Hold Left click

Cosmo shoots a web line to the direction of the circle that appears on the player's UI. The line will disappear if the player release the button. It can be used to swing around and gain momentum.

    5 stamina
  • Pull In Click After Jumping Right click

Cosmo shoots a spider web pulling in your character towards that location. This skill is not dependant on needing a surface to activate like swing mode. This Skill can only be used once while mid air and can be used again after landing on ground or engaging in a swing.

    2 stamina
  • Jump

If on ground: Jump, then jump again (slight delay from first press) will tug on the line pulling you off ground. If in midair: Jump (once) to tug on line, only works if no glider suit is equipped.

  • Reel In Hold LeftCTRL

Cosmo reels in its web line to reduce the length of the line. The player gains momentum if he reduces the line continuously.

  • Release Line Hold shift

Cosmo releases more web line to increase the length of the line.

  • Shoot Primary attack

Cosmo shoots a spider web ball to the direction of the camera. This attack has the same properties of the Shoot Web attack. Webs can be infused with light charge to apply the Charged Light effect. The projectile has a lifespan of 3 seconds before disappear.

    1 stamina
  • Aim Secondary attack

    Aim.

  • Whip LeftCTRL

Make your tames move the same as hitting with a whip. If you whip a wild creature, it covers it in a sticky web. Unlike a whip, this ability can't harvest resources.

Passive
  • Shoulder Pet

Cosmo is a shoulder pet, meaning that it can be picked up by the player on their shoulder, allowing the Cosmo to attack from there if within range. It cannot take damage unless the player dies or it is thrown off the shoulder. While on your shoulder, the weight that the Cosmo has in its inventory will weigh half as much to the player. When Cosmo is picked up, a Cosmo Wrist-Shooter is added to the player's inventory. This "weapon" allows Cosmo to go from the player's shoulder to their wrist to allows the use of its abilities. Web maximum capacity is set by the current Cosmo level, no specific stats affect directly web shooting. It is not possible to increase web recharge rate, no matter the level. Charge Regeneration and Charge Capacity affect light charge used when shooting 20px Charge Infused Webs. Web shot damage is scaled by Melee Damage. When in shoulder mode, use the radial wheel to toggles Cosmos abilities on or off. 20px Threat Sense: Cosmo glows with a purple aura when nameless are nearby. 20px Charge Infused Webs: Debuffs creatures weak to light such as Nameless and Reapers, disabling their natural armor. Cosmo can be equipped with helmets for extra damage resistance.
