The Hesperornis is a shoulder pet, meaning that it can be picked up by the player on their shoulder, allowing the Hesperornis to attack from there if within range. It cannot take damage unless the player dies or it is thrown off the shoulder. While on your shoulder, the weight that the Hesperornis has in its inventory will weigh half as much to the player.

The female Hesperornis lay an egg every 5 fishes hunted and eaten. It can lay two different types of eggs, the
Hesperornis Egg which is the most common one, or 
Golden Hesperornis Egg with rarer frequency. The Hesperornis Egg can also be laid as a normal egg with time and its laying rate is affected by the 
Oviraptor. This egg cannot be used to make Kibble (Unless the auto-craft is disabled on the cooking station, option only available on ARK: Survival Ascended), instead it can be cooked on a 
Cooking Pot or 
Industrial Cooker to obtain 12 Oil per egg. The Golden Hesperornis Egg can be consumed for players or big creatures to receive +10% experience, or +500% if the consumer was a small creature. It can also be used to make 
Extraordinary Kibble.
