How You Get One

method, in order
Special Immune to darts. You feed it while it is trying to eat you.

Step by step

  1. Find one resting on the sea floor. One swimming freely will just flee.
  2. Swim in and let it grab you and pull you toward the beak.
  3. It throws several fake bites first. Feeding during those does nothing and costs you health.
  4. On the real bite, feed Black Pearl — its preferred food — or Bio Toxin or Narcotic.
  5. Heal between grabs with Medical Brews, or keep a Tidepup on your shoulder, and repeat until it drops.

Torpor

  • This creature is torpor-immune to conventional tranquilisers. Darts, arrows and Narcotics will not drop it, so the torpor figures elsewhere on this page describe its stat, not a route to taming it.

Holding it still

Built trapNo bola-type item holds this one — build a trap instead: stone or metal dinosaur gateways in a box or semicircle, lure it in, close the last gate behind it.

Nothing throwable immobilizes a Palaeoctopus.
