traps, methods & egg runsTo tame a Veilwyn, you must sneak up on the Veilwyn by crouch walking behind it. When close enough, a "claim veilwyn" prompt will show up, and you will be able to tame it. If you are spotted, the Veilwyn will clone itself. While it's still technically possible to claim a Veilwyn in this state, it's impossible to determine which is the main Veilwyn and which are the clones. If the Veilwyn clones itself to where there are at least 5, it's best to just leave the immediate area and try to sneak up again when the clones are gone; Veilwyns will get aggressive after amassing a large clone army which can lead to a survivor's death.
Evolution
The Veilwyn can evolve into two powerful forms. The gothic "artificial"
Malwyn, and the the swift
Solwyn.
Neither of them are tamable by default, but are instead evolved from a Veilwyn using Corrupted Vulpite or Pristine Vulpite, respectively. This can be done when a companion Veilwyn's current buff "Adventure!" reaches 100%; it can be force-fed with Vulpite, which causes it to disappear into the warp and come out as Solwyn or a Malwyn based on the type of Vulpite that is fed to them.

what it does and how you trigger it
- Bite
The Weilwyn bites the target for ??? damage.
5 stamina · 0.67s cooldown - Surprise Attack
The Veilwyn travels between dimensions and attacks the target for 11 damage. This attack applies Freeze to the target, stacks 30 times.
5 stamina · 3.25s cooldown
- Companion Mode
The Veilwyn can be set to companion mode using the radial menu. When activated, the companion player gets a multitude of benefits, including a Veilwyn Whistle to allow for remote issuing of commands. While in this mode, the Veilwyn cannot die; upon "death," it will phase away and respawn in an hour, indicated by a player buff with a timer. The Veilwyn will also gain a percent of the player's experience and doubles its own Melee Damage output, but increases the damage taken by 20% and this vulnerability increases with the Pack Boost, receiving 15% extra damage for each pack member up to 6. While in Lost Colony, an effect called "Adventure!" will be in effect raised through various means like killing creatures, which is a necessity for evolving Veilwyn to either
Solwyn or
Malwyn. Using the radial wheel of either the Veilwyn directly or via the Veilwyn Whistle, the Veilwyn can be ordered to perform various commands: # Follow Player [Heel Distance]: Veilwyn will follow the player as if under the normal whistling command. # Set Wander [Close Distance]: Veilwyn will wander close to the player without being under a normal whistling command. # Set Wander [Medium Distance]: Veilwyn will wander close to the player without being under a normal whistling command, but at a farther distance. - Pack Boost
The Veilwyn receives the Pack Boost whenever it is near to another allied Veilwyn. A "pack" of two Veilwyns will receive a +1 Bonus, which will go up to +6 in a group of 7 or more Veilwyns. They receive +10% extra Melee Damage and +5.5% damage resistance per extra pack member up to 6 members. If the Veilwyn is on Companion Mode, they will receive more damage instead of reducing it, receiving +15% extra damage per extra pack member.
