- Only babies can be tamed. To tame, find a nest with both an adult and a baby. Distract the adult by throwing fertilized eggs and using
Ghillie Armor to avoid detection. While the adult is distracted, hide in the nest, mimic the baby's actions to advance taming, and avoid getting aggro from the adult. Check the 'Tips' section for best strategies!
Torpor
- This creature is torpor-immune to conventional tranquilisers. Darts, arrows and Narcotics will not drop it, so the torpor figures elsewhere on this page describe its stat, not a route to taming it.

traps, methods & egg runsTo obtain a
Gigantoraptor, you must find a Gigantoraptor nest out in the wild with both an adult and a baby Gigantoraptor alive. Adults cannot be tamed, only their babies, but the adult must be alive and distracted to tame the baby.
To distract the adult, you will need to lure it away by throwing down fertilized eggs. Use
Ghillie Armor to reduce the chance of being detected. The adult will attempt to hatch the egg by cracking it open; larger eggs will keep it distracted for longer than smaller eggs. Should the egg actually hatch, though, the adult will aggro on the babies and kill them. Once the adult has destroyed the egg, it will return to the nest, regardless of any other eggs laying around. Leave the nest at that point, run a distance away, and throw down another egg. Return to the nest once the adult is occupied trying to hatch the new egg.
The parent must be awake and able to return to the nest; babies will not feel comfortable approaching you in the nest otherwise, which means traps are not a viable way to occupy a parent.
To tame the baby after the adult is distracted, walk up to the nest and use the option to Hide in Gigantoraptor Nest . While hiding in the nest, the baby will randomly run up to you, do a jump-flap animation, then perform some random action which you must mimic within roughly 2 seconds: 25px Spin , 25px
Bow , or 25px Flap . Performing the same action within the given timeframe (denoted by a circular timer above the baby's head) will advance the taming percent. Failure to perform the same action in time will cause a small loss of taming effectiveness. Performing the wrong action will drop taming effectiveness dramatically. Getting aggro from the adult will reset the taming effort.
Note that you can leave the nest while the taming is in progress without losing any effectiveness or progress, but if you leave render distance of the nest, this can reset any progress that was made. As such, make sure you have all the necessary fertilized eggs in range, likely in the inventory of a tamed creature set some distance from the nest. Beware of aggressive creatures nearby, as they will attack you, the adult, or the baby, even if you're hiding in the next. It is presumed that taming progress will be lost if the baby is hit in any way during taming. Try to clear out any threats in the area before initiating the taming procedure.
Finally, it is important to know that killing the parents or otherwise allowing them to die will prevent you from imprinting on their babies! However, you can use a tamed Gigantoraptor to imprint on orphaned wild baby Gigantoraptors.
There have been reports of some instances where the baby Gigantoraptor will not interact with the player in any way, even if it should be "comfortable" to do so. Usually in these cases, it's best to abandon the taming attempt and find a different one since there isn't a known/reported method to fix this issue.

Any wild baby claimed by the Gigantoraptor during this window gains bonus Bonus-Wild-levels (See Passive-Baby Call Section for more info). This action also changes Imprint requirement of any close allied baby. Most of the time, this seems to be the change pattern: *If the baby wanted a Cuddle, now it will probably want to be Fed. *If the baby wanted to be Fed, now it will probably want to Walk. *If the baby wanted to Walk, now it will probably want a Cuddle.

The Gigantoraptor imprints on a wild baby dino. This action claims orphaned wild babies and change the imprinting of the baby to the Gigantoraptor's rider.
- Pick Up Baby LeftCTRL
The Gigantoraptor picks up a baby dino and puts it in an open saddle position. The baby must be an equal level or lower than the Gigantoraptor's to pick it up.

- Babysitter
The Gigantoraptor acts as an adoptive parent to your dino babies. Placing babies in the saddle, the Gigantoraptor will act as a
Feeding Trough, using food in its inventory. (Note: however, that the player must be actively sitting in the saddle for this to occur). While in the saddle, you can care for your baby by feeding it food from your last item slot and cuddle with it using the reload menu or take it for a walk by just walking around on your Gigantoraptor. Once per imprint cycle, you can use the Gigantoraptor's roar to change the imprint requirement of any nearby babies needing care, so it's recommended to take care of all needs possible first before roaring. Babies can be carried regardless of their maturation progress, so long as they're not adult. However, the Gigantoraptor cannot carry
Giganotosaurus or
Carcharodontosaurus of any maturation progression. There may be other large creatures it can't carry but this requires further testing. - Egg Incubation
The Gigantoraptor can also incubate eggs regardless of insulation requirements, which is very useful for incubating extreme eggs such as Wyvern and
Rock Drake eggs. Place the egg in its inventory, select it, then there will be an option to attach the egg to the left/right saddle slot at the bottom center of the menu. There will be an icon to the left/right of your hotbar indicating the incubation progression. Once it turns green, select the egg in the inventory and there will be an option to hatch it at the bottom center of the menu. It will immediately imprint to you to name it. Note that if the Gigantoraptor is a lower level than the hatched creature, it will fall out of the saddle and possibly go under the mesh, so make sure you are on a structure such as a roof of a house to negate any potential of actually losing the creature, or ensure the Gigantoraptor is a sufficient level to carry the creature. Any wild baby claimed by the Gigantoraptor during this window gains bonus Bonus-Wild-levels (normally gained during taming, which babies can’t get) proportional to the Gigantoraptor’s Tamed-levels multiplied by its taming effectiveness Lvl 150 baby claimed by a Giganto with 0 level up points or 0% taming effectiveness would result in the baby getting 0 bonus levels. Lvl 150 baby claimed by a Giganto with 44 level up points and 50% taming effectiveness would result in the baby getting 18 bonus levels. Lvl 150 baby claimed by a Giganto with 44 level up points and 100% taming effectiveness would result in the baby getting 37 bonus levels. Lvl 150 baby claimed by a Giganto with all 88 level up points and 50% taming effectiveness would result in the baby getting 37 bonus levels. Lvl 150 baby claimed by a Giganto with all 88 level up points and 100% taming effectiveness would result in the baby getting the full 75 bonus levels. Taming effectiveness is derived from the taming mini-game with Gigantoraptor chicks, and claimed Gigantoraptors hatched from eggs are considered at 100% taming effectiveness. The Gigantoraptor can only claim babies less than or equal to its own level. Distribution of the Bonus-Wild-levels skew towards the Gigantoraptor’s highest stat (wild and mutated) when applied to the baby Extra weight scales from a 0% difference to a 6.25% percent difference, by having 60 wild points (if difficulty 5), and 254 mutations in the specific stat. Once all stats are calculated, a simple weight-distribution is used to determine where the Bonus Wild levels go. As the adoptive parent, the Gigantoraptor loves to show babies how to hunt. When riding a Gigantoraptor that you've imprinted with babies in the saddle, the babies will want to go hunting. During a hunt, the baby will mark a random enemy of some minimum level (based on the level of the baby, which is 60 levels under the baby's level, but caps at maximum of level 90) with a red skull and crossed swords. Killing that enemy within the 5-minute time limit will increase the bonding of the baby with the adoptive Gigantoraptor. The killing blow must be landed by the adoptive Gigantoraptor while mounted; any other death of the target will act like a loss of target (not triggering a 30 second rest). Removing the baby from the saddle will reset the bonding progress. After a set number of hunts (different for each type of dino), the baby will be fully bonded to its adoptive parent and will receive a buff while near the adoptive parent. A hunt target can be reset by moving out of range of the chosen target. Hunt targets include most land creatures from Compys and Dodos to Alpha Rexs, but not ants or bugs due to their low render distance. Oddly enough, Trilobites are considered potential targets. Bonded adopted dinos are indicated by a pulsing icon showing a Gigantoraptor head with a green chain link. During a fight, the Gigantoraptor and its adopted children will receive a stacking buff (up to 25) on each kill made by an adopted dino. At 1 to 14 stacks, the buff is called Alloparental Pride or Adopted Love and is indicated on the Gigantoraptor by a golden cloud around its neck. At 15 to 25 stacks, the buff changes to Alloparental Fury or Adopted Rage and is indicated by a reddish-orange cloud around the Gigantoraptor parent's neck. Each stack will fall off individually while out of combat at a rate of about 1 per 30 seconds. Whenever certain events happen to a Bonded Creature within Alloparental range, Gigantoraptor gains stacks of the Alloparental Pride buff. Baby becomes Bonded: 5 stacks. Bonded Creature matures: 5 stacks. Bonded Creature levels up: 2 stack. Bonded Creature kills something: 1 stacks. Bonded Creature dies: 15 stacks. For each stack of Alloparental Pride, Gigantoraptor deals 2% bonus damage (max 50%) and provides a 1% bonus experience per stack (max 25%). Upon reaching 15 stacks, buff name changes to Alloparental Fury, and Gigantoraptor also gains 10% movespeed. Stacks of Alloparental Pride last for 1 minute, and refresh upon gaining new stacks. Whenever Gigantoraptor has the effect of Alloparental Pride, all Bonded Creatures within Alloparental range gain the Adopted Love buff, reducing incoming damage by 10%. Whenever Gigantoraptor has the effect of Alloparental Fury, all Bonded Creatures within Alloparental range gain the Adopted Rage buff, increasing their damage by 5%, in addition to the Adopted Love's 10% damage resistance.
