method, in orderQuirks
- To tame a Dreadnoughtus, start by locating one near an
Element node. Approach it and feed it Element to gain its attention; it will follow you for one minute. Continue offering Element as you lead it to the node. Once there, the Dreadnoughtus will begin consuming the Element, triggering five waves of enemies to attack. Protect it from these threats, as the more it gets attacked, the more its taming effectiveness will be reduced. After each wave, its taming progress will increase by 20%.
Torpor
- This creature is torpor-immune to conventional tranquilisers. Darts, arrows and Narcotics will not drop it, so the torpor figures elsewhere on this page describe its stat, not a route to taming it.

traps, methods & egg runsThe Dreadnoughtus has a unique taming method exclusive to Extinction mechanics. The first thing to note is that it will become hostile to larger tamed creatures but it can be approached with smaller mounts such as a
Thylacoleo.
Before trying to tame the Dreadnoughtus you will want to scope out an element vein to guide it to, preferably an alpha-difficulty vein (lesser veins result in reduced taming effectiveness.) This may require you to find deployed OSDs/distant element veins and activate them, then immediately leave render distance to terminate the event(s), allowing for a new chance of a more conventional element vein location. You may also want to do this after a recent meteor shower to ensure that weather event doesn't become a potential danger.
Once you have an element vein scoped out you will need to lure the Dreadnoughtus to it. Feed it element akin to passive taming, and it will follow you for 1 minute. It's best to clear any harvestable resources if possible since the Dreadnoughtus is prone to getting stuck on trees while following you.
After you have guided the Dreadnoughtus to an element vein, it will approach it and start eating it, initiating the taming process. This is indicated with a roar from the Dreadnoughtus as energy surges from its neck. At this point, you cannot damage the Dreadnoughtus with tamed creatures (though they still apply on-hit debuffs) but more importantly, it will NOT become hostile to larger tames during this so you can deploy a large combat creature from a cryopod if able. If creatures can't be deployed in this manner, have a large creature on standby some distance away and whistle it in. If you have it, a
Carcharodontosaurus is a premier mount for this. A powerful mount is essential if solo taming as other tamed creatures will not attack the corrupted creatures that spawn during this, even while on aggressive. It's unknown if this is a bug or intended.
You will need to defend the Dreadnoughtus from 5 waves of corrupted enemies, all of which will directly target the Dreadnoughtus. Their levels are equivalent to the Dreadnoughtus's level, the types of creatures depending on which size element vein is present. With each wave, the Dreadnoughtus will gain taming progression as it eats the element vein, capping at 20% per wave. With each bite it takes, it will gain/refresh a "digestion shield" which decays over time. This protects it from incoming damage which is very important as any damage the Dreadnoughtus sustains will impact taming effectiveness. However if the Dreadnoughtus is being attacked it will refuse to eat and therefore will not refresh this shield.
On the last wave, once the Dreadnoughtus eats enough to complete the tame, all corrupted creatures associated with the event will die/despawn. At this point the element vein will activate as a normal element vein event. It's up to you on whether or not you stay around but if you're on PvP settings, it's recommended to cryopod the Dreadnoughtus as its area attacks will cause immense collateral damage to the vein, should you stay to complete the event.

5 stamina · 7.5s cooldown - Vomit
Cannon Secondary attack The Dreadnoughtus vomits an acid cannon ball to the target for 2250 damage on direct impact on creatures or 1012 damage against structures. This attack is capable of knocking out creatures susceptible to "hard" damage such as the
Rock Elemental,
Karkinos, and
Titanosaur. Consumes 1
Cannon Ball from its inventory.50 stamina · 10s cooldown - EMP Roar Special 1
The Dreadnoughtus unleashes an Element-powered roar at the target for 200-450 damage. This attack applies EMP Affected debuff on impact, making the target unable to use any kind of Tek technology. If the target was a creature (Both wild or tamed) it will attack the Dreadnoughtus, even if it was on passive. This effect last for 10 seconds by default. This attack increases its damage and effect duration with each stack of Disdain buff that the Dreadnoughtus has. The stacks of Disdain consumes after the attack. Consumes 1
Element from its inventory.50 stamina · 120s cooldown - Turn LCtrl
While enabled, the Dreadnoughtus turns around on its own axis to the direction of the camera. Can freely be toggled on and off.
- Platform Saddle
The Dreadnoughtus has a platform saddle, allowing the players to build on its back.
- Free Movement
The Dreadnoughtus can freely move in all directions, including forward, backward, left and right.
Passive
Whenever the Dreadnoughtus is near a Big creature it constantly gains the Titan Slayer buff, increasing its Melee Damage dealt and damage resistance. The increase depends on the Drag Weight of the big creature from 5% up to 50% at 1000 Drag Weight or more. The Dreadnoughtus needs to be the only of its species around 100 meters for this buff to activate.
Whenever the Dreadnoughtus receives a large amount of damage in a short period of time it stacks a Disdain buff which can stack up to 20 times. Every stack increases the damage and effect duration of its EMP Roar, consuming the stacks upon activation.
