The Cave

guide

Rockwell's Proliferation is an area in the Genesis: Part 2 DLC located under the Corrupted Gardens.

Rockwell's Proliferation is by far the most dangerous Biome in Genesis: Part 2. With Rockwell's flesh growing out of nearly every surface, pools of his stomach acid littering the floor and a fierce, oversized immune system of his own design, this Biome is a grim reminder of the state of the rest of the Genesis-Ship. With Summoners being able to create aggressive, diseased versions of virtually every Creature in the game, Noglins that can control the minds of nearly anything that dares to enter, Macrophage swarms which drain Stamina and prevent the use of Tek Leggings, followed by a bevvy of Tek Chestpiece-disabling Rockwell Tentacles, it's safe to say that Rockwell's Proliferation was designed meticulously to fight off any and all invasive forces.

Hazards

  • Summoners patrol Rockwell's Proliferation in plentitude on a set path, using their natural spotlight to look out for intruding Survivors. Once they detect a Survivor, Summoners will fire an oily projectile towards them, creating a cluster of aggressive, diseased Creatures in the general vicinity.
  • Not only can they be difficult to kill due to their organic shield, but with their innate ability to create other Creatures on the spot, aggravating a Summoner can make for a long and difficult fight- especially if one would be unfortunate enough to aggravate multiple at once.
  • Noglins pose a grave danger in Rockwell's Proliferation, as they have the ability to control the minds of your tamed Creatures.
  • Mechanized mounts such as the Mek, or Tek Stryder are immune to being mind controlled, and may be wise alternatives to traditional Creatures for fighting your way through Rockwell's Proliferation.
  • Macrophages act similarly to Genesis: Part 1's Insect Swarms and Parakeet Fish Schools, mercilessly attacking anyone who harms anything within Rockwell's Proliferation while inflicting a Debuff that disables the ability to sprint and make use of Tek Leggings.
  • Rockwell Tentacles will appear from the floor in set clusters, knocking back Survivors by slamming the ground when approached and shooting goo projectiles from a distance, inflicting the 'Goo-ed' Debuff, which disables your Tek Chestpiece.
  • Sickly green pools of Rockwell's stomach acid will inflict the 'Acidic Blood!' Debuff until the victim exits the liquid, and for a short period thereafter.
  • Survivors and Creatures will lose 5% of their total Health per second within the acid.
  • In other words, you can only survive for ~20 seconds in the stomach acid, regardless of Health. For example, a level 471 Mek with 84,701.8 Health will take 4,235 damage per second when standing in the acid.

What You'll Be Dealing With

assembled from what lives in this cave 7
Heavy carnivoresArmour damageTorporPoison and gas
  • Mantis — Uses whatever weapon it holds, so its damage depends on what it picked up, and it is fast.
  • R-Reaper King — Very high damage, climbs, and its ranged projectile applies a stacking debuff.
  • Arthropluera — Its ranged acid attack damages armour directly — primitive Flak breaks in one or two hits — and armour damage cannot be repaired if the piece is destroyed.
Wear Hide rather than Flak and carry Fiber and Hide to repair. Kill it at range; it out-damages armour faster than you out-heal it.
  • Araneo — Webs you in place from range, which stops you kiting and stops a mount fleeing. Its bite applies torpor.
Kill it at range before it closes. Bug Repellant makes it ignore you entirely.
  • Seeker — Flies, and its screech drains stamina and applies torpor. Attracted to charge light, which is the thing you need for the Nameless.
Turn charge light down to its minimum radius rather than off — enough to keep Nameless away, not enough to call Seekers.
  • Titanoboa — Applies heavy torpor per bite and is quiet enough to reach you before you see it.
Stimberries or Stimulant on your hotbar. Two bites will drop an unprepared survivor.
  • Basilisk — Burrows and ambushes, and its ranged venom does heavy damage over time.
It is torpor-immune, so there is no knocking it down mid-fight.
Not a threat: Meganeura
