The Fight

what you are walking into

The Lost King — Darius Anthom in the lore — rules the frozen wastes of Arat Prime, and he fights from the saddle of his personal Gigadesmodus: the first human boss in ARK, and the first to ride a tame into battle.

He is fought through the Red-Handed mission, started at the palace terminal. While his mount flies, nothing damages either of them — not melee, not ranged, nothing — so the fight opens as a hunt for the four power poles keeping it airborne.

General

The Lost King won’t give up without a fight, so be prepared to face him and his royal mount, his personal Gigadesmodus

Dangers

While the Lost King isn't interactable, his mount becomes very dangerous while in flight due to its constant spew onto the group. That, coupled with the fact that nothing can damage them, not even Ranged weapons, and his cohorts of Thralls constantly spawning, makes them dangerous enough to deal with him.

Bringing too many players (10+) may trigger a scaling damage reduction buff on the boss, making him nearly impossible to kill.

Weaknesses

There are no notable weaknesses formed from the Lost King's mount. However, de-powering the four pillars will force his Gigadesmodus to land, making them vulnerable to attacks until the mount flies up again.

Tribute

per difficulty · not cumulative
One payment opens the whole Red-Handed run: the same tribute summons this fight and the Lost Queen immediately after it. There are no artifacts on this map's door.

How the fight works

  • Phase one is the poles: destroy all four power poles around the arena while his Thralls swarm you. Until the poles are down the King and his mount cannot be damaged at all.
  • With the poles down the Gigadesmodus lands. Exploding crystals spawn on the ground — detonating one near the King stuns him, and those stun windows are when the damage happens, from tames and from shotguns or Tek Rifles alike.
  • The approach matters as much as the arena: a long, Tek Cave-style walkway of hostile Thralls and Gargoyles stands between the terminal and the fight.
  • Keep the raid small: every survivor past the first feeds him a scaling damage-reduction buff of roughly 10% each, so a full ten-survivor group faces him at his most unkillable.

Getting in

Started near the palace terminal — the boss teleporter is marked at 18.6 / 75.9. Ten survivors and twenty creatures maximum, ground tames only: flyers do not teleport in, and the Gloon counts as one. Large tames snag on the narrow ramps of the walkway, and the King will not spawn until stuck tames are freed, dead or cryopodded — carry Cryopods.

Rewards

The Lost King Trophy — and the run itself continues straight into the Lost Queen and her rewards.

Also true

  • Defeating him is not the end of the run: the Lost Queen is fought immediately after, on foot.

What to Bring

community loadout — not a game value
Cryopods are the real requirement: large tames snag on the walkway's narrow ramps, and the King will not spawn until stuck tames are freed, dead or podded. No flyers teleport in — the Gloon counts as one.
